Coeur d'Alene, in the heart of North Idaho, is nestled
amongst the tall pines on the shores of beautiful Lake Coeur d'Alene.
This 100-year-old city is rich in history with a population of approximately
40,000, in a county of 100,000, and has been honored as one of the
few communities in the country to be named an All American City.
Coeur d'Alene is French for "Heart Like An Awl" (an 'awl' is a
very sharp leather working tool) The local Native Americans were
dubbed the Coeur d'Alene's by the French Fur Traders because of their
'shrewd or sharp' trading skills.
